Completion of Loktak phumdi clearance likely by Feb, 2015: Devendra

The government is targeting to complete clearance of phumdi from Loktak Lake by February, 2015 and so far around Rs 180 crores has been spent, Forest & Environment Minister Th Devendra informed the State Assembly today.
He was responding to a query raised by MLA Shyamkumar in connection with the ongoing phumdi clearance work which is already on spotlight over scam and scandal, during the question-answer session in the State Assembly today.
Minister Devendra said that the clearance work is being taken up by M/S HVS Construction Material Private Limited and informed that an amount of Rs 180.33 crores has been spent so far out of the total estimated total cost of Rs 224.39 crores.
Replying to questions put up by MLA Shyamkumar, Transport Minister Kh Ratankumar said that driving license is issued by District Transport Officer under MV Act 1988 and asserted that laid down guidelines are strictly followed while issuing driving license.
He stated that there is no driving training school run by the government.
However, there are three private driving training schools namely Driving Training & Research Centre, Tera Thangapat Mapal; School of Driving & Automobile Technology, Thangmeiband and Maruti Driving School, Chingmeirong which are given licenses by the Transport Department.
