Anal Leader Rev Dr Sumpi John passes away

Chandel, August 20 2015 : Rev Dr Sumpi John Anal, a theologian and philosophers of the Anal Community passed away in New Delhi's AIIMS, at the age of 65 on Wednesday after prolonged illness due to Nasopharyngeal cancer, the Anal Theological Association and Anal Naga Baptist Association announced on Thursday.

He was 65."One of the most effective n influential leaders used mightily by the Lord has been called home to rest in peace eternally and share His glory in the kingdom prepared for His saints" the Anal Theological Association said in a press note.

ATA's General Secretary JS Pillar said Dr Sumpi John was not only a great preacher of the gospel who was loved by the people but was also a historian of the Pakans (Anal) who was adept at blending the gospel with the past culture, customs n traditions.

He has contributed a lot to Anal people by bringing out the first New Testament Bible and also brought out the Puruwng Piipana Hla (A Hymnal).

He made our Anal-Pakan tribe popular in the North east and was also instrumental in building up Anal society in spreading the Gospel, it added.

The press note said during his journey and service in this temporary but beautiful world, he has responded to the great call of God by being faithful unto Him till his last breath.

And it's heartening to see him work for the Lord even in his old and weak moments as pastor of MCF, Delhi.

Truly, he has fought the good fight of faith n finish the race well, Pillar further said.

Mortal remained of Rev Dr Sumpi John will be flown to his native home Salluk village in Chakpikarong after a memorial service held in Delhi.

JS Pillar informed that a public reception would be held at Indoor Stadium, Japhou Bazar before proceeding to Salluk village tomorrow (August 21) at around 12:30 pm, where a funeral service would be organized by Anal Naga Baptist Association (ANBA) the next day (August 22) at Chakpikarong Community hall at 10 am.
