Covid situation in Senapati district reviewed

Senapati, May 20 2021:
A review meeting to control the spread of Covid-19 in Senapati district was held at the DC's Conference Hall in the presence of PHE Minister L Dikho, who is also the minister in-charge of district.
The district administration, district health society led by CMO and CSOs comprising Naga People's Organization (NPO), Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) and Senapati District Women's Association (SDWA) were part of the meeting.
The district health society presented the current Covid status in the district and the preparations being undertaken by the medical department to curb the spread of the coronavirus among the general populace in Senapati.
While welcoming the new DC of the district, Minister L Dikho expressed his desire to make the district a different one in the fight against the virus through coordination from all quarters and stressed the need for joint efforts in tackling the virus to make Senapati free from COVID-19 .
The Minister also expressed his gratitude to all concerned including the frontline workers who are making sacrifices to save human lives.
On the issue of vaccination for 18-plus people in the district, four new Covid Vaccination Centres (CVCs) will be opened at Mao, Paomata, Oinam and Bendramai PHCs in addition to the two existing centres at District Hospital, Senapati and Maram PHC, said District Immunization Officer Dr Ngouniba Peter.
Online registration will be opened on May 23 starting from 10:30 am for those (18 years and above) willing to take Covid-19 vaccine on May 26.The meeting suggested continuation of containment measures in the district to stop the spread of the pandemic and also discussed the need to give counselling by One Stop Centre to whoever needs it.
CMO Dr Pfokreho Pfoze informed at the meeting that there is adequate number of ventilators in the district hospital as of Thursday.
During the meeting, Dr Sokha, medical superintendent DHS, highlighted the need to procure OT for Covid patients in the hospital and the PHE Minister, in response to that call, donated the amount to obtain the consignment including 15 numbers of oxygen concentrators for the hospital.
Dr Helen Shimray, district leprosy officer, mentioned the success story of how the district's doctors saved the lives of patients including COVID patients brought to the hospital.
