Kakching, December 19 2021:
As the people of Manipur want a new political party other than BJP and Congress, the National People's Party (NPP) is the natural choice and will win the upcoming election in a big way, asserted NPP national vice president and deputy chief minister Yumnam Joykumar.
Speaking as chief guest of the inaugural function of an office of NPP for Wabagai AC at Wabagai Lamkhai Bazar on Sunday, Joykumar observed that many political parties are declaring their potential big wins, which is understandable.
Even BJP has declared it will win over 40 seats.
However, aside from Congress which had won 43 seats in the 2012 polls, no other party in Manipur's history has won over 40 seats.
Congress won 43 seats due to its success in resolving previous law and order problems and ushering in peace, while also focusing on development, preventing the entry of NSGN (IM) leader Th Muivah into the state and others.
Unfortunately, BJP has failed to do anything noteworthy during its term, leaving the people dissatisfied.
As such, it is uncertain whether BJP can live up to its claim of a massive victory, he remarked.
Presently, people want huge changes to happen in the state.
Both BJP and Congress cannot achieve this.
Congress, on its part, has fallen down from its once stature of Grand Old Party of India.
Thus, it is up to NPP to bring in the changes, he said and announced that the party would be fielding around 40 candidates in the upcoming polls.
Expressing belief that at least 20 out of the 40 candidates will win, Joykumar said that the resulting scenario would be of NPP becoming the single largest party.
However, NPP could still work out an alliance either with BJP or Congress, he disclosed and urged the people of the state to give their votes to NPP so as to bring about a new Manipur.
The inaugural function was attended by Wabagai intending NPP candidate Mayengbam Ranjit and others.
Later, the deputy CM inaugurated a Booth Level Office of NPP at Kakching Phousupat Leikai, Wabagai AC and also attended a public meeting at Phoushupat Mandop.
