Man dies days after brawl, 6 arrested

Imphal, December 18 2021:
A man who was stabbed on his chest during a fight in Wangkhei Ayangpalli Ningthem Pukhri Mamang under Porompat PS and later discharged from the hospital, died on Saturday after complaining of ill health.
Meanwhile, police have arrested 6 people involved in the incident.
The deceased man has been identified as Thangjam Rakesh (29) of Wangkhei Ayangpalli Ningthem Pukhri Mamang.
According to a police report, the fight took place on December 10 during which Rakesh was stabbed with a sharp weapon on his chest.
His family and the people involved in the incident reached an amicable solution, and the attackers agreed to bear Rakesh's medical expenses.
As such, he was admitted to Advanced Hospital and discharged by the doctors after necessary treatment.
However, a few days later, Rakesh complained of breathing problems and was taken to the same hospital on Friday only to be declared brought dead by the doctors on duty.
His family then filed a complaint to Porompat PS on Friday in connection with the incident.
A case was registered and police arrested six people including a juvenile who were involved in the incident.
On Saturday, all six accused were produced in the court of CJM Jmphal East, which remanded them to 5 days in police custody.
The juvenile, however, was sent to an observation home.
On the other hand, post mortem examination of Rakesh was conducted at JNIMS morgue on Saturday.
However, the family is yet to claim his body, the report conveyed.
