Jiribam, October 18 2021:
Transfer of teachers and other activities being carried out under the cover of 'School Fagathansi Mission' of the government in respect of Jiribam district are having detrimental effect on the survival of the existing schools, alleged leaders of four student bodies of Jiribam namely AMSU, MSF, DESAM and KSA.
Talking to media persons on Monday at MSF Jiribam district committee office, MSF president Atom Rajib pointed out that student bodies of Jiribam have long been requesting authority concerned to fill up shortage of teachers in government schools of the district.
However, despite repeated requests in this regard, altogether 11 teachers from various schools of the district were among 814 teachers of government schools transferred as per an order issued on October 15.Those transferred from Jiribam include four teachers of Jiribam Higher Secondary School, six of Borobekra Higher Secondary School and one teacher of Jirighat High School and no replacement for the transferred teachers has been made, Rajib said and likened transfer of teachers under 'School Fagathansi Mission' in respect of Jiribam to abolishing government schools.
While insisting that replacement must be made for the transferred teachers, Atom Rajib said that no teachers of schools in Jiribam should be transferred without their replacement and appealed to authorities of schools concerned not to release the teachers.
He also cautioned that AMSU, MSF, DESAM and KSA will launch intense forms of agitation if no replacement for the transferred teachers is provided and the government and its authorities concerned should be held responsible for any untoward incident arising out of the agitation.
DESAM Jiribam president Laishram Bilash Meitei, who also took part in the press conference, said that the number of students admitted to class XI in two higher secondary schools of Jiribam has been doubled this year than the previous session.
He then asked as to why government is trying to shift teachers from Jiribam to Imphal without assessing ratio of students and teachers in the two higher secondary schools of Jiribam.
He also said that student bodies of Jiribam strongly condemn the government's decision of transferring 10 teachers of the two higher secondary schools and warned of launching protests if government fails to revoke the transfer order of 10 teachers of the two higher secondary schools of Jiribam immediately.
