BJP concerned unrest over three Bills in Manipur

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Manipur Pradesh held a meeting on Friday at the party head office here and discussed the prevailing situation in the State arising out of the three Bills passed by the Manipur Legislative Assembly on August 31 last.
A press statement released by State General Secretary (Adm/Coordinator) Manipur Pradesh, M Asnikumar Singh said that Manipur is in turmoil due to the social unrest and agitation by the people from both the hills and valley on the issue of protection of the identities and culture of indigenous people of the State.
The people have been struggling over the years to confront the threat from the continuous influx of people into the State both from within and outside the country, it said.
The press statement said that it is unfortunate that the Chief Ministers and leaders of other States are making sectarian views on such a sensitive issue concerning the people of Manipur.
BJP Manipur Pradesh further said that State Government is making efforts to defuse the situation by inviting NGOs and other Civil Organisations for consultation on the three Bills with a view to bring about a peaceful atmosphere.
The press statement also said that the party has been supporting the cause of the indigenous people of Manipur and suggesting ways and means to the State Government bring an amicable solution.
It also appealed to all sections of the civil society to maintain calm and join hands in the effort to protect the interests of the indigenous people of Manipur.
