Imphal, July 17 2014: Along with observing the Writers' Day, Naharol Sahitya Premee Samiti has presented its Writer of the Year 2014 (Lifetime Achievement) Award to renowned writer Aribam Chitreshwar Sharma during a function at Dave Literature Centre, DM College campus here today.

The function was graced by Khumanthem Prakash, Sahitya Akademi awardee and Prof Polem Nabachandra, president of Naharol Sahitya Premee Samiti as Chief Guest and President respectively.

Speaking on the occasion, Chitreshwar Sharma said that he was interested in writing since childhood but could not give much attention due to unfavorable condition of his family and added that instead he was compelled to take up painting job as a source of income.

The writer informed that the turning point of his career came when he received an offer for cover design for books written by various writers.

''During that course, I got an opportunity to meet with some of the famous writers.

Drawing inspiration from them, I decided to enter the world of writing again,'' he added.
