Swachh Bharat Abhiyan drive conducted

11 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organised a Swachh Bharat Abhiyan drive at S Moljol village yesterday.
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is a campaign launched by the Government of India to keep the streets, roads and infrastructure of the country including towns and rural areas clean, said a press release from PRO IGAR (S) .
The villagers were briefed regarding the importance of cleanliness and also motivated to keep their village clean.
Villagers and Assam Rifles personnel both made combined efforts to make the village area clean and spread awareness amongst the locals.
The villagers were also briefed regarding waste disposal and encouraged to make less use of polythenes to preserve the environment.
They were also advised to throw the waste only in dustbins and earmarked pits which should regularly be cleaned/ regulated.
The villagers were also encouraged to make use of toilets for keeping the atmosphere clean.
The event was dedicated to the ongoing 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan', an initiative of Prime Minister Narendara Modi, it added.
