Imphal, November 14 2017:
It is disappointing to note that even after 20 years of Warangal Declaration and the three and half years of Telangana State formation, the larger question of social and economic rights of the large bulk of the peasants and labours had not been resolved.
This was stated by T Gandhi, vice-president of All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO) while addressing the All India Seminar organised by Telangana Praja Front (TPF) at Hyderabad on Nov 12 .
Any neo-liberal regime that comes to power does nothing other than acting as the functional instrument of the system that survives on the basis of exploitation and oppression of the poor.
The pathetic conditions of inequality and injustice in Telangana harbour the ground of democratic movement that outrightly challenges class rule and injustice, he said.
Perhaps, there is a view widely circulated by certain Left radical forces that identify India with 'prison house of Nations'.
One may either uphold or reject this view.
However, it remains a fact that the Government of India had indulged in historical injustice to Manipur through the most treacherous political plot of forced annexation in 1949 .
The historical injustice could have been either rectified or the memory of injustice would have rendered into political redundancy had it not been for the continuous miseries inflicted on the people in the name of 'National' security and 'capitalist growth,' Gandhi said.
The miseries of the people have manifold manifestations that may be broadly clubbed into political, economic, social and cultural.
The miseries became a catalytic factor for the continuous relevance of armed liberation movement carried out by the outlawed parties.
They uphold the policy of "National democratic revolutionary movement" as the precondition of delivering social and economic progress in Manipur.
They keep the National question of Manipur alive.
The Government of India remains unsuccessful in the attempt to wipe them out with heavy hands of militarization, policing and fifth columnists.
The side-effect of the military option is reign of terror by the Government, which has added to the miseries, he said.
