Imphal, October 13 2024:
The Pambei-led United National Liberation Front (UNLF) clarified that no cadre of the outfit had any link with the incident involving Romario, who was awarded punishment by an armed organisation on October 6 for his alleged immoral activities and disrespect for women.
According to a statement, referencing two cadres of the Pambei-led UNLF namely CCM S Pankhei alias Richard and chief revenue officer Kh Laanjingba in the video released by the said organisation before shooting Romario on the thighs was not only a deliberate attempt to tarnish its image but also cheap and false propaganda.
The two cadres had no link whatsoever with the incident involving Romario, the statement issued by media coordinator Charairongba Thokchom said.
Awarding punishment to Romario is the right step as UNLF too had been monitoring activities of anti-social elements as part of the armed campaign and will continue to do so.
While referring to the Baby Lungnila Elizabeth case to assert that UNLF will make no compromise against anti-social elements, the statement reminded that KCP's Nando was awarded capital punishment after a special team of the UNLF launched operation and thorough investigation.
The UNLF statement further said that two cadres of the outfit were intentionally linked to Romario's incident with malicious intent to spread false propaganda to avenge the infamous August 13 Patriots' Day incident at Khuman Lampak organised by the organisation involved in punishing Romario.
