Outreach prog on advance tax held

An outreach programme on advance tax cum -felicitation of top advance tax payers organised by office of the additional commissioner of Income Tax, Range Imphal as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav was held at Hotel Classic Grande, here on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, additional commissioner of Income Tax, Range Imphal Ng Joseph Gangte outlined the importance of tax revenue for the nation and urged the gathering for conversion of self-assessment tax to advance tax as well as to pay advance tax in time to avoid interests.
Deputy commissioner of Income Tax, Circle Imphal M Joychandra highlighted the role played by taxpayers in nation building while H Rajen of Raj Medicity stated in his speech that he felt proud being one of the top tax payers of Manipur and appreciated the recognition accorded by the Income Tax Department.
Speaking on the occasion, Sinam Pritam of Eastern Motors opined that such programme should be conducted every year to spread awareness on paying advance tax.

The programme was aimed at targeting the low advance tax payers as well as high self-assessment tax payers.
It was attended by 54 taxpayers.
The income tax department also felicitated 20 Top Advance Taxpayers of the state in the function.
A power point presentation on Advance Tax was made by ITO, W-1, Imphal L Ramcharan Singh explaining the schedule of Advance Tax Payment and how to calculate it.
An interactive session was held after the presentation, during which several questions on interest waiver during natural calamities, bandhs, tax on reserves among others were raised.
