The Joint Action Committee constituted in connection with the killing of a civilian and an officer of KNF, a SoO signatory at Kadangband has urged the Chief Minister to expedite the Magisterial Inquiry into the alleged fake encounter today.
A representation submitted to Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh today signed by Thangminlen Haokip, Chairman of the JAC aired their grievances over the slow pace of the Magisterial Inquiry which according to the JAC was constituted consequent to their demand to investigate the alleged fake encounter killing at Kadangband on January 28 by Assam Rifles personnel.
It also claimed that according to the Government vide order No.20/1(13)/2013-H(LC)Pt, dated 31st January 2015 the time frame set for the inquiry was 2 (two) months.
However, the time period of 'not more than 2 months' as specified in the order has expired but the enquiry committee is yet to submit its report, alleged Thangminlen Haokip.
"It is our wish that the veracity of the fake encounter in which 2 people were killed and three others injured be properly established by the Government and ensure that justice is done", said the JAC chairman.
He urged the Chief Minister to look into the matter and expedite the inquiry in the interest of justice.
