VPF Yumnam Khunou holds oath taking ceremony

Wrapping up the physical fitness and endurance training programme, the combined oath taking ceremony of the second batch (female) and fifth batch (male) of Village Protection Force (VPF) Yumnam Khunou was held at Sinam community hall on Sunday.
Speaking at the event as chief guest, Lamlai MLA Kh Ibomcha cautioned that we cannot let the guard down amid the on-going conflict and youth have come to the forefront to defend the integrity of the state, becoming the feared Arambai.
He continued that the 400km porous border between Myanmar and India is one of the factors fuelling the current conflict.
However, after CM Biren's request, the 16km free movement regime along the border was cancelled by the central government.
He then said that the biometric collection to identify illegal immigrants has been extended till March.
2024 for more extensive exercise.
The state government, taking the future of the state into consideration, has ensured that the state police operate efficiently in Moreh alongside the central' forces.
As such, it would be wrong to incite meaningless violence as was attempted in some places recently, he remarked, while adding that as long as the people, particularly the Meetei community stand strong and united, Manipur's integrity will remain intact.
Ibomcha then urged individuals belonging to other communities to stop aiding the enemies, while stating that the best step would be to take a unanimous stand to protect the state.
Presided over by VPF Yumnam Khunou convenor Haobijam Somorendro, the ceremony was also attended by Makeng Dolaithabi ZP member Ningthoujam Sanatomba as guest of honour.
