MLA calls for concerted efforts in combating pandemic

Imphal, June 12 2021: Former health minister and Keishamthong MLA L Jayantakumar has called for sincere and concerted efforts in combating the Covid-19 pandemic.

Covid Care Committee Keishamthong Assembly Constituency in association with Manipur Central Youth Committee (MCYC) and Directorate of Health organised a one-day awareness programme on Covid-19 and Black Fungus at Keishampat Keisham Leikai community hall on Saturday.

Speaking at the event, MLA Jayantakumar pointed out that even if there is a dispute in a family, the members unite against the common enemy.

Similarly, Covid-19 is right now an enemy to human civilization and as such, we all need to unite and work together sincerely to defeat this "enemy", he added.

"Aside from rising positive cases, many people have died in the second wave of the pandemic.

Amid this, there are concerns of a third wave of the pandemic, which if it does happen, will be perilous for the state.

As such, we must take up all necessary precautions beforehand including consulting with experts and following all instructions to the letter", he said.

During the programme, doctors from the Directorate explained to the people about preventing Covid-19 and also about Black Fungus.
