MSPDCL sustains drive; power shut down on Mar 14

Imphal, March 12 2025:
Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL) continued to carry out drive against power theft in different areas and apprehended 15 persons for indulging in malpractices on Wednesday.
In a release, MSPDCL general manager (commercial) Ng Kirankumar Singh informed that three people from areas under Bishnupur power sub-division; two each from Takyel, Wangjing, Sugnu and Yairipok sub-divisions; and one each from Singjamei, Lilong, Kakching and Kumbi sub-divisions were appre -hended for power theft.
Moreover, power supply of 15 consumers were also disconnected, he added.
On Tuesday, 35 people were round ed up on the charge of power theft and other malpractices during drives launched by the MSPDCL on Tuesday.
According to an MSPDCL release, the defaulters included six persons from areas under Lamlai sub-division; five persons under Sugnu, Thoubal and Yairipok sub-divisions; three under Churachandpur sub-division; two each under Bishnupur and Moreh sub-divisions; and one each from LSD-1, Lamlong, Wangjing and Nambol sub-divisions.
Apart from power supply of 23 consumers disconnected, FIRs were registered against five consumers, informed the release.
Meanwhile, Manipur State Power Company Limited (MSPCL) informed that the 33 KV Yaingangpokpi-Napetpalli transmission line shall be under shut down for re-tensioning of 'low sagged' conductors to maintain proper ROW clearance and to replace damaged/corroded poles on March 14 from 9 am to 4 pm.
A press note issued by MSPCL stated that during the period of shutdown, 33/11KV sub stations - Napetpalli, Sagolmang, Saikul, Chingarel and Sanjenbam will be affected.
