Know Your Candidates: Keishamthong AC contestants get candid

The five candidates in fray for the seat of Keishamthong AC in the ensuing 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election on Saturday talked with The People's Chronicle regarding their reason for contesting the election, first work to be taken up after being elected and vision for the state.
Independent candidate Sapam Nishikanta said that politics is not a debate ground for CSOs and he wants to show what a sincere leader with a vision and integrity can do, while taking up responsibilities of over 100 percent what an MLA can do.
His vision for the state is to improve infrastructure, encourage entrepreneurs and make Manipur a tourism hotspot.
BJP candidate Elangbam Samuel Johnson said that after being part of CSOs for a long time, he joined politics on realising the importance of political decisions in resolving issues of the state.
Regarding development of the constituency, he said that his first task would be to improve the existing drainage system, and conveyed that his vision of Manipur is preserve its territorial integrity and promote equality of all people in all aspects.
INC candidate Aribam Pramodini maintained that she joined politics to serve the people selflessly.
Her first work in the constituency would be to improve the drainage system and roads in addition to providing jobs for the youth.
Her vision for Manipur is to promote harmony between the hill and the valley, and empower women of the state.
Meanwhile, RPI(A) candidate Maheshwar Thounaojam (RPI) stated that his objective behind Contesting the polls is to bring huge changes in the state by being part of the policy-making process.
His first task for the constituency would be to prioritise education, public health and empowerment of women and youth.
His vision for the state is promoting economic growth and resolving all existing issues.
NPP candidate Langpoklakpam Jayantakumar contended that he wanted to fulfil his vision during his lifetime.
His first task would be to make Keishamthong a model and zero garbage constituency, resolve unemployment problems and issues faced by women.
His vision for the state is to encourage resource mobilisation, thereby helping it to become economically sound.
