Imphal, December 10 2024:
Noney District Rationing Agents Joint Action Committee (NDRAJAC) has announced imposition of indefinite economic blockade along the NH-37 from December 9 to protest alleged government indifference its demand.
Declaring that the blockade will continue till full payment of the pending dues, NDRAJAC informed a statement that all trucks, including those transporting essential goods of CAF&PD along NH-37, would be prohibited from operating in areas under its jurisdiction.
"With numerous pleas and supplications to the authorities concerned falling on deaf ears, NDRAJAC has been left with no option but to go ahead with the agitation and in compliance with the ultimatum submitted to the chief minister," the statement mentioned, adding that it has been compelled to resort to this extreme measure in protest against the step-motherly treatment of the state government towards the long suffering and plight of its members.
"NDRAJAC had rendered yeoman services above and beyond the call of duty during the COVID-19 pan demic for the sake and interest of the common people during those trying times.
Unfortunately, instead of appreciating our efforts, the government is withholding the commission due to us for the period 2019 to 2022," it specified while contending that any potential disturbances arising out the blockade shall be the sole responsibility of the state government.
