Bishnupur, February 10 2025:
Registering their protest against the government's plan to withdraw security forces from Keinou - who, they claimed, have been protecting the villagers from attacks by armed Kuki terrorists, locals staged a protest at Keinou Thongthak Awang Leikai on Monday.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the protest, meira paibi activist L Rebati commended security forces deployed in Keinou for safeguarding the villagers from bombings, firings and drone attacks carried out by armed Kuki narco-terrorists since the crisis erupted in the state.
She then argued that the security forces who protect the villagers should not be removed from Keinou, while also warning of intense agitations if the government disregards their demands.
Asserting that the villagers have been living peacefully due to the presence of the security forces, Rebati urged government officials, including the DC and the SP, to reconsider their decision to withdraw the security forces from Keinou.
During the demonstration, the protesters chanted slogans such as "Security forces should not be removed from Keinou" and "Intense forms of agitation will follow if security forces are removed from Keinou" .
