Imphal, April 09 2022: Blessing ceremony of Ibudhou Films Creation's 7th presentation Khongu Nangi Bashi' was held at the residence of producer Somen Moirangcha at Heirangoithong.

Langthabal MLA Karam Shyam, former minister Oinam Lukhoi and renowned filmmaker and director of the film Laimayum Surjakanta attended the event as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

In his address, Karam Shyam observed how politicians often speak of rich resources of art and culture and sports of the state but they often ignore those engaged in the held.

Artistes in the state are facing immense hardships despite the role they play in shaping the society, he said and assured of providing all possible help from his side in the production of the film.

Film director L Surjakanta said that Manipuri film used to have a major place in the global arena in the past due to its originality and cultural relevance.

Imitating others is human nature but putting the culture and identity behind the curtain is not a good thing and as such, filmmakers need to promote the culture and identity of the state in their works.

If is time to move towards this trend, he said.

Film producer Somen Moirangcha shared his experience of 20 years in the field of film production and said that he will do his best to bring out quality content so that the film could enter national competitions.

The story of the film has been adapted from Dr Raheijuddin (Shamu) Sheikh's award winning radio play of the same name.

KB Moirangcha, Romita, Surjit Saikhom and Sonia are among the cast members of the film.
