Imphal, October 08 2024:
For the first time in India, 3000 artistes will perform at the Mega Thang-Ta Demonstration on the occasion of "Thang-Tagi Numit" on November 15 at Khuman Lampak.
Addressing media persons in this regard at its Palace Compound office, here, on Tuesday, Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts and Cultural Society (KIMACS) president Brahmacharimayum Bilki Sharma said that KIMACS has been celebrating November 15 as "Thang-Tagi Numit" every year.
This year, the main celebration will be held at Khuman Lampak under the theme "Thang-Ta for Unified Manipur" .
Unlike previous years, 3000 Thang-Ta student artistes would perform demonstration, making it the largest assemblage of martial artistes at a single venue in India.
He emphasised that as warriors of Thang-Ta were decisive in safeguarding sovereignty of the then independent Manipur from invaders, the indigenous martial arts form should be promoted and developed the support of all.
He then urged school authorities to ensure that Thang-Ta students of their respective institutions participate in the event by coordinating with KIMACS.
He also appealed to all concerned not to call general strike, bandh or blockade on the said day.
