Headmaster assaulted inside school

Unidentified persons thrashed the headmaster in-charge of Irilbung High School, Nongthombam Nilakumar, inside the campus of the school under Irilbung police station on Thursday.
Condemning the assault, students and teachers staged sit-in protest in front of the school.
According to a police report, around 10 am Thursday, two persons arrived at the school in a car with one in mask and cap, alighting from the vehicle, entered the campus and thrashed Nilakumar.
The duo then fled the scene in the same car.
Nilakumar, who sustained injuries, was taken to JNIMS Hospital for treatment.
Subsequently, Irilbung PS, has registered a case and investigation is underway.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, science graduate teacher Thongam Ran-jana Devi recounted that the teachers were in the midst of their respective classes around 10 am Thursday, when an individual armed with a metal rod entered the headmaster's room and beat up headmaster in charge Nilakumar.
On hearing the commotion, some teachers rushed out of their classes only to see the unidentified person fleeing the school campus and getting into a car parked on the road, which then disappeared.
Condemning the assault of a teacher inside a school campus, Ranjana urged for making education a free zone so that such incidents do not recur in future.
