Association urges Govt to curb 'illegal import' of poultry

Imphal, September 07 2019: All Manipur Poultry & Dairy Young Farmers Entrepreneurs Association has urged Government to check "illegal" import of poultry.

Speaking to media persons at Kuki Community Hall, Langol, spokesperson of the association K Haokip said that "illegal import of poultry chickens is causing disastrous health and economic havoc in the State" .

Alleging that "illegal importers" are not following FSSAI norms and guidelines, he said that the "illegal import" is causing "economic instability, wealth drain and exploiting indigenous poultry farmers and the general populace" .

"Illegal/unhygienic chickens sold at deflated price indirectly encourages the death of poultry farming institutions of Manipur," he said urging Government to immediately intervene and take measures to curb "illegal import" of poultry.
