Imphal, September 07 2014:
Naga Peoples' Front (NPF), Manipur State is irked by the various comments of deputy chief minister Gaikhangam on Ukhrul issue.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, NPF, Manipur State president-in charge Awangbow Newmai said instead of solving the current problems faced by Naga people in the state, deputy chief minister Gaikhangam only creates more room for confusion among the people through his fluctuating statements.
Awangbow Newmai said that if a person like deputy chief minister Gaikhangam keeps holding the charge of the home portfolio and also as the deputy chief minister for a long time in the state, then more unfortunate incidents like the Ukhrul incident of August 30 which killed innocent civilians would be piling up in the near future.
As such, certain concrete measures need to be taken up now so that no unwanted incidents arise in the future, stated Awangbou.
"It is very disappointing that the deputy chief minister keeps confusing the people through his statements instead of guiding them to safety", the NPF leader added.
The Indian Constitution has bestowed every right upon its people to take up any step democratically against anything which they feel is causing a threat to their lives, stated Awangbow while condemning the inhuman acts committed by armed personnel on the civilians during the rally held in Ukhrul.
This has necessitated the need to adopt steps to solve the problem and further prevent it from happening again, added Awangbow.
