Water supply in Chandel district stopped

Chandel, August 06 2015:
Following severe damage of raw pipelines and the intake of dam by flood due to heavy rainfall on July 27, general public of Chandel district headquarters and surrounding villagers are denied normal water supply.
The villagers have been getting water supply from Khumji river.
In a press release issued by Chairman of Village Level Water & Sanitation Committee Js Angam informed that with the water level receded, spot enquiry was already done along with the staffs of the department.Many raw pipelines and dam were found damaged during their inspection due incessant rainfall and flood in the area.
The statement said that some pipes could not be seen due to mud which accumulated from landslides.
About 8 km long pipeline along with intake dam constructed in the-06 have been totally washed away by the strong water current of Khumji river and landslide as well.
Angam said it will take some time to repairing the damaged things.
He requested all the general public to cooperate and seek support from authorities to take immediate steps.
