Imphal, June 06, 2014:
It is a matter of concern that Kuki civil society bodies of Chandel district should be involved in the location of the designated camps for KNLF, said a statement issued by Stephen Kuki, Under Secretary, Information and Publicity, KNO.
KNLF is a breakaway organisation from UKLF; however, it is part of the tripartite Suspension of operations (SoO) signed with the Centre, the State and the concerned organisations, the statement added, while reasoning that the Government approved Semol as the site for the designated camp of KNLF.
Charging the UKLF for the vociferous attack on the site of the camp to dominate the area, the KNO statement said that civil bodies should not take one-sided view even if threatened by the UKLF.
It warned the civil bodies that if they continue to do so, adverse repercussions would inevitably follow, and they would be held responsible for undue public disturbances.
KNO also advised Pu Janmang Baite and Shokhomang Haokip to exercise mature restraint and refrain from personal attacks on DIG Brig Rajiv Mankotia of 26 Sector Assam Rifles, who is well known for his fairness and resolute objectivity concerning the people of Chandel.
One can only be curious as to why a SoO group designated camp site should generate such a hue and cry, unless instigated by vested interest of an interested party, the statement explained while stating that it is self evident fact that a significant outcome of SoO is the peace dividend that the public wholly enjoys.
