AR recovers IED, war like stores

Imphal, October 05 2015: Troops of the 12 BIHAR of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) recovered IED weighing 1 kg and other war like stores in Leimaram area during regular patrolling conducted on October 5 .

A PRO HQ IGAR (S) release said the IED was found packed in a green colour bag.

The area was immediately cordoned off and a Bomb Disposal Squad reached the location and deactivated the IED safely.

The IED was destroyed in an open patch in general area Leimaram.

The other items including war like stores were also destroyed which included 1 kg of explosives, one mortar shell, one detonator No-33 and six meter IED cable.

Owing to the vigilant troops of the Assam Rifles who spotted the IED on time, casualty to either civilians or Security Forces was averted.
