Sit-in opposes crackdown on village volunteers

Imphal, January 05 2025: In continuation of the series of protests against the crackdown on village volunteers, Naharol Yaipha Lamjingkol Club and Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Meira Paibi Development Organisation jointly organised a sit-in protest at the club's Haobam Marak Irom Leikai premises on Sunday.

The protestors demanded unconditional release of the arrested village volunteers, termination of service of the commando personnel involved in the killing of a village volunteer, cessation of crackdown on village volunteers and repealing of the AFSPA from the entire state.

Interacting with the media, Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Meira Paibi Development Organisation general secretary L Nganbi urged the security forces to stop targeting village volunteers amid the crisis.

She called upon the people of the state to stand united against the aggression of Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists aimed at disintegrating the state and exhorted the womenfolk to come forward and safeguard the village volunteers against security crackdown.
