Threat on woman activist decried

Concern Group Against Life Threat to Social Activist Panti Gonmei, a group constituted against the alleged threat served to the activist, has demanded the government to take up appropriate action in connection with the threat which came through mobile message about 10 months ago.
Addressing a press meet in this regard at Manipur Press Club here on Wednesday, G Benjamin, spokesperson of the group, said that the threat against Panti Gonmei came at a time when the social activist has been working tirelessly for those helpless victims who approached her in connection with various vases of human rights violation like child molestation, gang rape, child trafficking and atrocities against women and children.
He informed that Gonmei who is also the president of Rongmei Luphuam (Assam, Manipur, Nagaland) received the threat from the mobile number 9089665120 while she was riding her vehicle with the mother of a rape victim on December 11, 2013 and lamented that the authorities concerned have not taken up any kind of action against the threat despite lodging complaints.
Saying that Panti Gonmei needs enough security as to continue with her fight against injustice and violation of human rights, Benjamin demanded immediate action be taken up in connection with the threat and deliver justice once for all.
