Time for integration of SDGs and NEP-2020: Dr RK Ranjan

Minister of State for External Affairs and Education Dr Rajkumar Ranjan has stated that there is need for integration of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 for a sustainable India.
The MoS was delivering a lecture as the chief guest at the 27th Memorial Lecture of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) founder VC Prof G Ram Reddy held at Baba Saheb Ambedkar Convention Centre, New Delhi on Saturday.
Dr RK Ranjan remarked that IGNOU is the largest university in the world with around 3.5 million students and 3.9 million alumni.
The varsity has brought huge changes in distance learning and online education and covers around 42 disciplines and has opened 281 programmes at certificate, diploma and degree levels under 21 schools of studies.
Emphasising the importance of NEP-2020, he urged IGNOU to help strengthen the education sector and aid in further progress of science and technology.
In his speech, IGNOU Prof Nageshwar Rao remembered the contributions and goals of IGNOU founder and vice chairman Prof G Ram Reddy, while adding that the university continues to stand by Reddy's principles of access, equity and quality.
He then said that in addition to allowing professionals and even school outs easy access to education, the university has translated its study materials into various regional languages, thereby helping students to learn in their own mother tongues.
IGNOU has also included online and tech-enabled education, he conveyed.
