UPF, ZRO denounce raid

The UPF has condemned the raid on the residence of its incumbent General Secretary, the President of ZRO's residence early today Assam Rifles personnel and claimed that the incident could put the SoO in jeopardy.
"The unprovoked behaviour of the AR personnel has not only tarnished the image of the Government but put SoO in jeopardy,' said the UPF.
The raid comes at a time when the UPF is firmly committed to SoO and looking forward to a political dialogue with the Government and has high hopes that the pact is an answer to the long suppressed political aspirations of the tribals in Manipur, it said.
The ZRO has meanwhile stated that they are committed to the hard earn peace arrived at with the Government and claimed that they strictly abide by the ground rules of the SoO.
Nevertheless, it is shocking to learn that Assam Rifles personnel raided the residential complex of its President early today.
Such action can derail the peace process stated the ZRO's secretary IPR Kenneth and demanded that AR authority clarify and make necessary apology to the ZRO for their misadventure.
He added, 'if the security forces are not interested in peace and tranquility, let their stand be loud and clear.
The ZRO will not remain a mute spectator in the midst of physical bully adopted by the AR' .
