Imphal, May 03 2023:
The Eastern Liangmai Chief & Chairman Association (ELCCA) and Ahangrok Chief Chairman Association (ACCA) have strongly condemned the "senseless" statement made by the Mizo Zirlai Pawl (Mizo Students' Association), Aizawl, on April 30 against the leadership of Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh, and the Meitei community.
The Liangmai organisations said that the statement of Mizo Zirlai Pawl "is an irrational statement which is uncalled for" .
They asked, "Why does Mizo Zirlai Pawl see the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but doesn't consider the beam that is in thine own eye? " .
The bodies stated that Mizo Zirlai Pawl may remark "our state only after cleaning up the beam that is blocking thine eyes" .
The Liangmai bodies then asked the MZP not to interfere in an internal matter of our state.
Manipur state government is doing its constitutional duties, the organisations added.
The ELCCA and ACCA also termed as very unfortunate to see "such ignorance and immature statements" in the public domain which can vitiate communal enmity.
The Liangmai organisations said they view seriously such a "reckless statement" made by MZP and further advised to consult the "matured leaders and update themselves so that such illogical statement having potential to create enmity among the peaceful loving people of Manipur is not repeated " .
The Liangmai bodies then said, in a democratic society, no particular community has authority to dictate over other communities in any matter whether it is formation of union or civil society organisation.
"In fact, in a plural society like Manipur, there is no place for hegemony or monopoly, " said the release of the two CSOs.
The organisations also apprised the Mizo students' body to refrain from making "baseless bulletins" and mislead people.
"If any untoward incident happens to any Manipuris in Mizoram than Mizo Zirlai Pawl, Aizawl, should be held responsible, " they cautioned.
