Imphal, February 02 2024:
Highlighting the pain being endured by the mothers due to the violence gripping the state and claiming lives of many, Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Co-ordinating Committee has reminded the central government that Manipur is an indispensible part of India.
Addressing the media at Manipur Press Club, here, on Friday, Committee convenor L Memma urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take a step back and look at the deteriorating situation in Manipur and help bring a solution to the crisis at the earliest.
She then urged Meetei women not to respond to the vulgar posts uploaded by Kukis on social media platforms.
"It is beneath our dignity to engage with Kuki women, whose origin are unknown.
Meetei women, on the other hand, are known for their bravery and courteous nature," she said, while urging all to stop uploading videos on social media and instead come together to strategise the best way to drive away the Kukis, instead of giving them an opportunity to become vigilant.
Memma then called upon those in the seats of power, especially the central government, to take a close look at the sufferings of the Khwairamband Keithel mothers and the people in general.
She urged the leaders to put an end to the cries of despair of the lakhs of people, while cautioning that the mothers are ready to step in front of their children.
Chipping in, Committee co-convenor Huirem Binodini remarked that the violence perpetrated by Kuki narco-terrorists in Manipur will soon hit the one-year mark.
However, the central government is still silently watching the situation get worst.
As such, this has caused dissatisfaction among the people of Manipur, leaving them to question whether they are not the citizens of this country.
Urging the Prime Minister to drive away the Kukis, whose barbaric nature has been shown through videos and photos circulated till date; she said that the future of our succeeding generations is becoming increasingly unpredictable.
Manipur is an indispensible part of India and the Prime Minister could at least spare some hours to bring a solution to the prevailing situation at the earliest, she expressed.
