Archival values of Thangal Surung highlighted

A day-long awareness programme cum record exhibition was jointly organized by Manipur State Archives, Government of Manipur and Thangal Surung Village Authority, Senapati at Surung village today.
The inaugural function of the programme was attended by Dr K Sushila, Deputy Director of Manipur State Archives as Chief Guest and Rev Th Thangmi, Founding Father of Thangal Naga Baptist Association as President.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sushila stated that the Archaeology Department has preserved the Kangkhui Cave at Ukhrul and Tharon Cave at Tamenglong and adding that the same could be done for Thangal Surung as well.
Dr Sushila said though there is no official record for Thangal Surung, it could be gathered and kept in the form of Sound Archives by collecting audio and visual records from elders who are well familiar with the place.
She also informed that the Archives Week will be held on December 13 in which the letter written by MK Priyobarta to the Prime Minister of Myanmar requesting to return back Kabow Valley will be exhibited.
