During the press meet, the four said that they had gone to New Mombi village in Chandel District in connection with some personal works.
M Kailash said that he along with the three went to the village and they returned to Chakpikarong market at around 6 pm.
When the four were about to leave the area in a diesel auto, some persons who claimed to be NSCN (IM) cadres took them above the community hall located at Chakpikarong market.
They were asked to confess that they were KYKL cadres and beaten black and blue with sticks.
The four were also robbed of their money, mobile phones, ID card and driving licenses.
The cadres locked them inside the community hall but managed to escape at around 10 pm and ran away from the area till they reached Sugnu at 2 am Tuesday.
But the police refused to register an FIR.
The same day, the four met the auto driver at Sugnu bazaar and took the driver to the police station.
Despite the corroboration of story by the auto driver over the incident, the Sugnu Police still refused to register a case.
