Arm, tobacco smugglers arrested

Imphal, August 31 2015:
Troops of the 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) apprehended two arm smugglers including a woman at Khudengthabi check post on August 30 .
In a press release issued by PRO HQ IGAR (S), the apprehendees were identified as Ngamson Mate (37), son of Jilksothang Mate of village Tengnoupal and Kim Khoneng (40), wife of Chandraman of Pallel, Chandel district.
The suspicious Scooter bearing Registration Number MN 01 B 7596 moving from Moreh to Pallel was stopped for checking, and on a thorough search of the scooter one empty magazine of 9mm pistol (Glock- Made in Austria) and one silencer for pistol were recovered while concealed in the engine compartment.
The apprehendees along with the recovered items were handed over to the Moreh Police Station.
In another operation, 20 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) established a vehicle check post at Bongyang and apprehended two smugglers including a woman carrying contraband items on August 30 .
The apprehendees were identified as Robert Singh (27), son of Chaoba Singh of village- Tihumningom Leikai and Rebika Devi (35), wife of Sh Ajit Singh of Singjamai.
250 packets of Sajan Tobacco products were recovered from their possession.
The apprehendees along with the recovered items were handed over to the Food Safety Officer, Chandel.
