Imphal, December 30 2021:
The government of Manipur has instructed officials concerned not to leave their place of postings without prior permission and further advised to remain in the blocks/sub-divisions of their respective districts.
In an office memorandum, chief secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar informed that all officers/officials shall reside in the government accommodation in the sub-division/block of their posting, if available.
In the absence of government accommodation, they may stay at a rented place and seek re-imbursement of the rent subsequently and the rates of rent shall be vetted by Finance department.
All administrative secretaries and heads of departments shall ensure strict compliance by all the officers and staff in their respective departments, it added.
According to the office memorandum, many officers/officials who are posted in various sub-divisions/blocks of the state are often found absent from their place of posting which leads to "delay and even failure in the implementation of the government's initiatives to ensure that the benefits of its schemes percolate to the grassroots levels".
As such, in order to ensure proper and efficient delivery of services to the public, no officers/officials shall leave their stations without prior permission.
