Two nabbed with 3kg opium, banned drugs

Imphal, August 30 2021:
A combined team of 9th IRB (Sports team) stationed at Kalapahar outpost and Kangpokpi PS nabbed a man with 3kg of opium near Teijang Veng on Sunday around 7.30 pm.
The arrested man has been identified as Ramesh Basnet (34) son of Bahadur Basnet of Chandraman, Kalapahar.
According to police report, the combined team led by 9th IRB post commander inspector H Manglemba Meetei and Kangpokpi PS inspector Henminthang Kipgen conducted regular frisking and checking of vehicles along NH-2 .
At about 7:30 pm, one Maruti Swift car (Magna Grey) with no registration plate was seen coming towards Imphal from Kalapahar side and it was stopped for checking.
On checking the car, three kg of opium concealed in three different brown plastic bags were found inside the car.
Ramesh was then arrested en the spot after observing due formalities and an FIR registered at Kangpokpi PS.
On the other-hand, a team of Lilong PS led by OC Lilong PS inspector Md Riyaj Khan and volunteers of ALADA Lilong seized a vehicle loaded with illegal drugs.
A release by police PRO informed that a total of 2854 SP capsules, three bottles of Codeine cough syrup and three empty bottles of the cough syrup were seized from Md Sahabuddin alias Abo (50) s/o late Md Samsurjaman of Kwakta Bazar Pangal Lamkhai at present Lilong Bazar.
Acting on inputs about transportation of illegal drug, the team conducted frisking and checking of suspected vehicles at Lilong PS gate and Lilong Aliya Lamkhai.
During frisking and checking, one individual later identified as Md Sahabuddin was arrested at 7 pm at Lilong PS gate along with consignment of nabbed cough syrup and a Baleno car (MN01AG/1266) .
A case has been registered against the'accused person for investigation, informed the release.
