Care Foundation observes World Hepatitis C day

Imphal, July 30 2015:
Care Foundation, a popular NGO working on drug related issues in Manipur observed World Hepatitis Day at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound on Thursday.
Dr Kh Lokeshwar ART Nodal officer, JNIMS spoke as a resource person on the topic, "Aspects of HCV treatment opportunity and constraints".
The resource person said that the case of Hepatitis C was first detected in the year 1989 .
He further stated that Hepatitis C can be transmitted from one individual to another through blood.
For treatment interferon is injected to the patient to kill the hepatitis virus.
However there is no cure for the ailment so far and the scientists across the world are researching on it.
It is also learnt that some scientists have come up with encouraging findings, coming close to identifying the drugs which can cure up to 90 percent.
Attending the function as chief guest, M Joy, Deputy Commissioner of Imphal East assured that he will try to extend possible help in preventing the virus from further spreading.
Dr S Manikanta Additional Director (P&F) Medical Directorate Lamphel attended the function as president.
