Imphal, June 25 2013:
In the aftermath of "one person, one ticket" order at the Out Patient Department (OPD) of state-run Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), large number of people who come to the hospital for treatment often end up in fracas at the ticket counters.
An attendant of a patient told Hueiyen Lanpao that the OPD at JNIMS opens from 10 am till 1 pm.
About 700 to 800 people from far and wide of the State come to the hospital for treatment daily.
He said that there are four ticket counters for OPD, two counters each for male and female.
The price of an OPD ticket is Rs.10.A person can take up to two tickets before, but a recent order of "one persons, one ticket" has created problems among patients.
Normally, patients from far-off places come in groups to hospitals.
They face lots of problems in the hospital as their attendants are not allowed to get more than one ticket.
Even patients begin to line up at the ticket counters thereby creating commotions.
Many of them have to return home without treatment after standing in the long queues for tickets.
A person should be allowed to get more than one ticket, they urged the hospital authorities.
