Police rescue two kidnapped workers

Imphal, January 25 2018: Two employees of Hindustan Construction Co Ltd (HCC) who were kidnapped by UG cadres from Kangchup area on the intervening night of January 18 and 19 and taken to unknown location have been rescued by police today.

According to a press release issued by PRO Police, Kangpokpi police in coordination with Imphal West district police and Churachandpur district police conducted intensive search operations at different places and based on a specific input, a team of Churachandpur police yesterday arrested two persons namely Sonkhogin Kipgen @ Hegin @ Gin @ Kenedy @ Joshua (43) s/o (L) Letkholun Kipgen of Phaikot presentlt staying at Tuibonng, Churachandpur and Ngamkholen Kipgen @ Lelen @ Joel (45) s/o (L) Kaikholal Kipgen of K Muolzol, Kangpokpi presently staying at Rengkai, Churachandpur.

The arrested persons claimed that they belong to KNF-MC group.

Based on vital clues provided by them, rescue operations were launched since yesterday night and the two victims were rescued safely from Phailenkot range, Motbung area today.

The two victims were handed over safe and sound to the company officials today, the release said.
