MLA Shyam inspects water supply schemes

Langthabal MLA Karam Shyam on Wednesday inspected the ongoing construction of Toupokpi and Canchipur water supply schemes under Langthabal assembly constituency.
Speaking on the sidelines of the visit, MLA Shyam affirmed that he has been working to provide water supply connection to every household of the constituency and by December the areas under Canchipur Water Supply Scheme will see 100 per cent tap water connection.
He also asked authorities concerned to complete the projects sanctioned under National Development Bank (NDB) and other schemes at the earliest.
Four water supply schemes have been taken up in the constituent cy, namely, Toupokpi, Haoreibi, Chajing Karam and Canchipur and if all of them become operational there will be no shortage of potable water in the AC, he added.
Water Supply Maintenance 2 executive engineer L Irish, who accompanied the MLA in the visit, stated that Toupokpi Water Supply Scheme is being constructed with a capacity of providing 1.74 MLD.
The project, which will provide water up to 14 km radius, will begin construction from December 1 and will be finished within one year, he informed.
Irish continued that 90 per cent of construction work for Canchipur Water Supply Scheme with 15 lakh litre capacity built under the funding of RIDF and NLCPRA Scheme along with NDB has been finished.
The scheme will not only provide water supply to people in Langthabal AC but also in Naoriya Pakhanglakpa, Thongju and some areas of Singjamei.
this project aimed at supplying potable water in 51 km radius is presently tending to needs of the people in 15 km radius area and very soon will start providing water, Irish further said.
