Kakching, January 24 2020: Ward Development Committees of Kakching Municipal Council (KMC) Ward nos 7 and 9 have organised an awareness programme on municipal solid waste management at different locations ofKakching District, today and distributed one twin-bin each to every household of the wards to segregate waste.

Executive Engineer, Naorem Ramchandra and Assistant Engineer, Salam Jugeshwor of KMC were the resource persons of the programme held at Kakching Khuayai Leikai Maning Mandap; JNNURM Hall, Kakching Sumak Leikai and Kakching Mayai Leikai Multipurpose Community Hall.

Speaking as the chief guest of the function held at Kakching Khunyai Leikai Maning Mandap, KMC's Chairperson, Naorem Sanjitkumar said that the twin-bins were distributed to achieve the vision of a 'Swatch Bharat' (clean and hygienic India) .

The project is being taken up to initiate segregation of single-use plastic from other waste at the household level, he added.

The programme was also attended by KMC's Vice Chairperson, Ksh Jhaljit; Councillors S Premita and Ksh Radhamani among others.

A similar programme was also held yesterday at Kakching Wairi Community Hall and Kakching Wairi Sabal Leikai Community Hall and distributed twin bins to every household of Kakching Ward nos 1 and 2 .
