Imphal, June 23 2013:
Students of Ram Lal Paul School have demanded the State government to revoke the Cabinet decision to make Ram Lal Paul School only for girls.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, General Secretary of Ram Lal Paul School Students' Union Kishan Thiyam said that the students would take up extreme action against the government if the decision of the State Cabinet is not revoked at the earliest.
He said that the government is trying to deprive the rights of students by defying the rules of Right to Education Act.
The government should maintain the School in its earlier status without converting it only for girls, Kishan averred.
He further clarified that the School has 113 students and not 30 students as reported in some newspapers.
Representative of Youths' Club, Keishamthong M Bishorjit also demanded the State government to revoke its decision to make Ram Lal Paul School only for girls.
He further urged the authorities concerned to improve the condition of the existing School rather taking up a policy against the interests of the students of this School.
