Imphal, June 22 2021:
United Association of Recognised School of Manipur (UARSOM) has demanded All Manipur Students' Guardian Organisation (AMSGO) to stop trying to portray the Association in bad light over the order issued by Directorate of Education (S) on June 16 to collect 60 per cent of the school fee.
In a statement issued by its joint secretary (publicity in-charge) T Nandalal Meetei, UARSOM said that it had no objection to the order issued by the government, but rather welcomed the order.
It only requested parents who are more than willing to pay the school fees to pay 50 to 70 per cent of the free in line with the government order and also based on the teaching performance.
The Association never demanded parents to pay over 70 per cent of the school fee.
Furthermore, this request was made after repeated discussions with 6 student bodies (AMSU, MSF, DESAM, KSA, SUK and AIMS) and in consideration of the points put forward regarding the salary of teachers and fees of students, amidst which the order was issued.
"UARSOM has always been working in the interest of students.
However, some people grouped together and formed AMSGO, in the name of presenting an All-Manipur front, while stealthily is working to fulfill their own personal interests.
The organisation had the audacity to mock UARSOM, which is an apex body of all schools in every district of the state, and attempt to portray it in a bad light", the body remarked.
Demanding AMGSO to stop such acts immediately, UARSOM said that since its inception on June 11, 2020, it has helped resolve all issues related to salary of teachers and fees of students by working together with the government and the student bodies.
"It is unfortunate of AMGSO to show its jealousy instead of encouraging UARSOM in its endeavour to help formulate a policy beneficial to students.
If AMGSO wants to thoroughly understand the aims of the Association, it is welcome to UARSOM's office anytime for a chat.
Other than that, AMGSO should clarify what it intends to do by issuing a press statement instead of holding an in-person talk", it added.
UARSOM continued: "The Association has never objected or rejected the order of the government, but it is AMGSO that is showing contempt.
Thus, AMGSO or any other body must stop trying to showcase it in bad light, for UARSOM is prepared to handle it as required" .
