Dimapur, February 22 2018:
Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) Nagaland said it is aghast with the election related violence, assassination attempts and malpractices which are in direct contravention to the Nagaland Baptist Churches Council (NBCC)'s call for clean election and the democratic process.
ACAUT Nagaland also said that it is shocked and greatly saddened by the loss of a life at Tuli, near 19th Mile, Mokokchung district in an election related incident.
"Such incidence is nothing but utter madness and Nagas ought to be ashamed of it, the administration should immediately enforce 144 CrPC in all these sensitive areas to prevent such untoward incidences again", ACAUT added.
Further, ACAUT Nagaland condemned those village councils which "have declared village candidates and the alleged involvement of certain NPGs in forcefully dictating village councils to declare village candidates, the NPGs are requested to look into it and ensure that no cadres, rank and file violate their standing laws" .
Meanwhile, ACAUT said the administration should have no difficulty to act upon these village councils which have declared publicly to endorse certain candidates.
ACAUT then urged the administration and the ECI to deploy more security forces in those villages that have declared village candidates so that genuine voters are not discouraged, threatened or ambushed on the way to the polling station to cast vote and to enable genuine voters to exercise their adult franchise in these areas.
"Though ACAUT stand is on "solution before election" however BJP's U-turn has made Nagas choose election and this has bought out the worst human elements in Nagas", ACAUT stated.
It then appealed to all voters to heed their conscience during the election.
