Police Commemoration Day observed in Senapati, Kakching, Chandel

Senapati, October 21 2021:
Senapati District Police on Thursday honoured police personnel who were killed in the line of duty on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day observed at Police Reserve Line, Senapati.
Manipur Police on the occasion read out the names of the deceased personnel from September 1, 2020 to August 31, 2021 among whom two were from Senapati district.
Head constable L Hriini Theo of Senapati Police reportedly succumbed to Covid-19 while Lihrii Komou, a VDF member died in an accident while on escort duty.
After a guard of honour was given to SP Senapati M Pradip Singh, names of the police personnel who were killed or who met with un-natural death in the line of duty were read out.
A shock parade contingent from the district police honoured the deceased, followed by laying of wreath by district police officers.
As part of the programme, a prize distribution for the 'Covid Free Village Competition' organised by Senapati District Police Department was also held in the later part of the event.
The competition started from June 5, 2021 continued till October 1 wherein 172 villages of the district, 71 villages falling under Senapati Police Station, 53 under Tadubi Police Station and 48 under Mao Police Station participated.
According to a report, the first case of Covid positive in Senapati was reported on May 25,2020 and the district recorded 1113 Covid positive cases till June 4, 2021.In all, 83 villages have been declared to be Covid-free out of 172 till June 4, 2021 .
At the end of the competition, 683 positive cases were found.
During the competition till October 1, 80 villages of the district were found totally Covid free, 72 as total Challan free-Covid-free villages and 55 were declared as Covid free from March, 2020 .
As per the results of the competition, Robve Solephe village under Song Song Sub-Division was declared winner of the first position, Zuimi village under Willong Sub-Division second and Purul Akutpa village under Purul Sub-Division as third winner.
Cash prizes of Rs 10,000, Rs 7000 and Rs 5000 were handed over to the first, second and third prize winners respectively.
Mention may be made here that 3 important criteria were considered during the competition like Covid-free village, Covid vaccination percentage and maintenance of Covid Appropriate Behaviour.
KAKCHING: Paying respect to martyred police personnel, Kakching District Police observed Police Commemoration Day 2021 at the office of SP Kakching on Thursday.
As part of the observance, SP Victoria Yengkhom led the gathering in offering floral tributes to the portraits of the deceased police personnel.
Simple gifts were also presented to the families of seven police personnel who died in the line of duty.
They were Mayanglambam Chaoba Singh of Kakching Moirangthem Leikai, Huin-ingshubam Lukhoi of Keirak Mamang Leikai, Sapam Rajkumar Singh of Sugnfi Mayai Leikai, Naorem Kesho Singh of Kakching Mayai Leikai Yaikhom Pareng, Chongtham Rishikanta of Thounaojam Mamang Leikai, Mayanglambam Shyamkumar of Kakching Khongnang Mari Phangba and Maibam Kantakumargi of Tejpur Makha Leikai.
The solemn function was also attended by Kakching additional SPs Kshetrimayum Manihar, Yumnam Joyraj, Athokpam Romendro; SDPO Konjengbam Gitchandra, Kakching Police Station OC Akoijam Premjit, Pallel Police Station OC Matum Singh Heisnam, Sugnu Police Station OC Ng Anthony Suresh, Waikhong Police Station 6c Philem Bulbul, Wangoo Police Station OC Chittaranjan, Arong Nongmaikhon Police Station OC Thokchom Damu, Hiyanglam Police Station OC Y Shanta and CDO Kakching Unit OC Md Abas Khan, along with other officers and personnel.
Chandel District Police also observed the day along with 8 Manipur Rifles at the latter's Leikun headquarters on Thursday.
The observance was attended by Chandel SP Lourembam Deben, 8th MR CO S Somorjit, Chandel Addl SP Augustine J Khongsai, 8 MR deputy commandant Naorem Nobin Singh, Chandel Police Station OC Potshangbam Surajkumar and others.
As part of the observance, floral tributes were offered to the portrait of 8 MR Havildar NL Thunghlung Anal.
