Govt mulling to lift prohibition: CM

Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh informed the State assembly on Monday that his Government is mulling over giving up the dry state status and selling the country liquor products to other states of the country.
During discussion in the House today, Trinamool Congress MLA Th Shyamkumar pointed out that local wine is sold everywhere in the state notwithstanding its dry state status, besides Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFLB) brands are being smuggled to the state from outside all the time.
Shyamkumar called on the Government to give up the dry state status and manufacture quality local wine and observed that it would bring an economic boom for the state if the country liquor manufactured in the state is sold to other states of the country.
Chief Minister Ibobi told the House that his Government has been contemplating on selling the local wine products to other states of the country and sought help and support from the House members in implementing the Government's plan.
