DCs highlight achievements, grievances to Governor

Governor La Ganesan had an interaction with deputy commissioners of Ukhrul, Kamjong, Tamenglong and Noney districts on Saturday at Banquet Hall, Raj Bhavan, here.
During the interaction programme, the DCs presented power point presentation on the status and implementation of various government schemes/programmes.
In his address, La Ganesan informed that after taking over as the Governor of Manipur, he had visited most of the districts and had fruitful interactions with the district administrations.
However, as he could not make it to some districts his main concern is whether or not the government schemes/programmes reach the targeted section of the society, the Governor expressed and urged the deputy commissioners to write a letter to him for immediate needs, so that action could be taken accordingly.
Ukhrul DC Krishna Kumar, while highlighting various activities taken up by district administration, informed that the total doses of Covid Vaccination was 45,297 with first dose administered to 26,364 beneficiaries and 18,933 persons receiving the second dose.
The target achieved on CMHT is 4022 and PMJAY 26879, the DC maintained while stating that in respect of e - Shram card distribution 9130 beneficiaries have been enrolled so far and a total of 2,13,559 e-Certificates issued in the district.
The DC also informed that seizure of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances included 4 kg of opium in 20 packets and 48 grams of brown sugar.
Moreover, 1733 acres of poppy plantation have been destroyed till date, the DC added.
Meanwhile, DC Rang Peter recalled that Kamjong district was carved out from Ukhrul district on December 8, 2016 .
While presenting the Covid-19 Vaccination status, he said that 12,094 people have been vaccinated with first dose and 8027 beneficiaries fully inoculated.
The DC also proposed for setting up at-least one college in the district apart from infrastructure development of existing schools.
The construction for DC office complex of Kamjong and TD Block at Sahamphung are in progress, the DC maintained and further made a proposal for extension of NH-102A from Nampisha to Kashung-Bungtung via Kangpat Khunou, Kangpat Khullen and Kangkum (about 30 km) which will connect with NH-102A (Shangshak-Tengnoupal) and district HQ with Kasom sub-division.
The construction of Transit accommodation for doctors and teachers at Kamjong in nearing completion, he added.
On the other-hand, Tamenglong DC Worshang Hungyo informed the Governor that the Tamenglong-Mahur road is a completely compensation-free project as the denizens sacrificed the land for the sake of development of the district.
After completion, Tamenglong will have two National Highways, he said while adding that the Tamenglong-Khongsang road, the only road linking Tamenglong district HQ with state capital was not conducive for operation of motor vehicles for the last many years.
However, construction of the road is in full swing and expected to be completed by July, 2022 .
As for Covid vaccination, a total of 21,850 doses have been administered with 15,309 beneficiaries receiving the second dose.
In his presentation, Noney DC Hauljanlal Guite said the district is presently free from COVID, in addition to pointing out that staff quarters at Noney PHC is ready for inauguration and one PSA Oxygen plant at CHC Nungba is functional.
The DCs were accompanied by superintendents of police of the respective districts.
CSOs of Tamenglong district who also attended the interaction programme highlighted the issues pertaining to their district and urged the Governor to address their plight.
