Court directs OC Senapati to probe loan fraud case

Imphal, January 18 2022:
In connection with the alleged misuse of details of 17 people in defrauding a bank, CJM Senapati has directed the Officer in-charge of Senapati PS to register a case and investigate into the matter.
A case was filed to CJM Senapati by Pouk-ho Unil (67) and Th Denii (51) of Senapati district mentioning RU Jonathan Tao (61) of Oinam Hill Village; Ithang Guite, ex-manager Central Bank of India, New Lamka, Churachandpur; and Boite Koireng of Utonglok village as accused.
The complainants made a prayer to the Court to take action against the three accused people under Section 465, 468 and 471 of IPC.
The complainants accused RU Jonathan Tao of misusing the names and documentation of 17 villagers of Thingba Khullen, Senapati district and opening back accounts in their names in Central Bank of India, New Lamka.
Each bank account holder reportedly took out a loan of Rs 4,80,000 .
The 17 villagers came to know of the matter after the bank sent a notice instructing them to repay the loans with interests.
When Jonathan was asked about the matter, he assured the villagers that he would repay the loans.
The 17 villagers then filed a FIR against Jonathan at Senapati PS and further submitted a report to the SP via post.
However, no action has been taken up till date.
After listening to the submission of the complainants, the Court instructed OC Senapati to register a case and investigate into the matter.
